Accept Loneliness
'I arrived in Wellington 3 weeks before the pandemic. Most of that time was spent settling into work and our new apartment. Amidst this, I haven't had the chance to really meet anyone and a second later we all were locked in our bubbles to forget how to meet and talk to strangers even more. Like loneliness, it's not already an issue. Thanks to that, once the restrictions were lifted I had all the plans and only my partner to share it with so we spent free time travelling through the country and thanks to my new camera I have been able to photograph all that has captured my attention. It might be a suggestiveness power of our minds but I think that the loneliness which I became used to was in a way captured in the photos I have taken during those trips. And I accepted it with the calmness that the photos are presenting.'

I am an architectural designer at Foster & Melville Architects. Born in Poland, I finished my Master’s in Architecture in Belgium and came to NZ with my kiwi partner just before Covid started. In between I worked, studied and lived in Poland, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, England and the United States. Wherever I went I took thousands of photos. You know how motivators always say that the more you practice the better you get? Well it does not work if you do not consider and analyse what you are doing. And why.
My photography journey started the second we came out of the last lockdown. The first thing I did was go to the store with analog cameras and buy one that works to finally execute the plan I have had forever. To stop clicking mindless photos with the phone but notice what is in the frame and why it matters to me. The first step is to look again. To see again.
